Spring is here! And, we are so excited about relaxed outdoor occasions. We were requested to make a grey and yellow color palette with sunflowers from our friends at Amber Lay Events, and are quite excited with what we came up with. Sunflowers to me are so cheery and fun, but they also offer a very stark, beautiful color that is best used with moderation. I used a neutral grey and a muted chambray to tone the the yellows, but also enhance that breezy, light and relaxed feel that was wanted. I hope you enjoy this new take on yellow and grey!

We can hardly begin to describe the fun-loving energy that surrounded Cody and Libby’s September wedding. What a fantastic group of people. Libby and Cody wanted their wedding to be personal and they wanted people to have FUN! Libby was one of those amazing brides that realizes the importance of creating a comfortable and fun environment for her guests. Friends and family pitched in to turn their home into a venue and housing for the weekend using tents, tables, chairs and linens provided by Event Rents. We have never seen so many people willing to pitch in to create a beautiful event and then enjoy their hard work so well. Guests danced the night away to the Luke Jaxon Band and enjoyed food by Couple of Chefs, while Matt Shumate Photography captured all of the merriment. We feel so lucky to have enjoyed the day with them!

Isn’t it funny how with no thought at all, we have distinct preferences in our lives? Every now and then, I’ll color coordinate my closet in hopes that it will stay that way. I always find that I have a lot of blue, red, gray and black. Apparently, that is all I like to wear. Today, when I crafted this color palette, it seemed like I was creating something fresh. Suddenly, it was oddly familiar. After finishing up, I glanced down, only to notice this is nearly the same palette as our logo. Still, a stunning combination!

One of my dearest friends is getting married next summer and she is the inspiration for this color palette, as well as the one to follow next week. She is a traveler, lover of life and all things bright. I could not have had more fun making this color palette for her that encompasses her cheery nature!

Here’s a little inspiration that we had so much fun making for one of our brides, Kelsey! Kelsey’s style is right up our alley; chevron, grey, pops of color, pops of fun and a rooftop reception with a canopy of lights. We are swooning over her vision for her and her fiance’s wedding! Enjoy!

Last month, we were asked to be a part of an inspiration shoot for Apple Brides at Barrister Winery with Ifong Chen Photography. Knowing these three vendors were involved, we immediately jumped at the opportunity. The idea for the shoot was modern, romantic, and a little bit of an edgy feel. Barrister winery was the perfect place to create the look we wanted.
For the design, we wanted to highlight textures and evoke a romantic feeling more than playing with too much color. We also wanted to be true to what Barrister is; a winery. A deep red was naturally the perfect color to use as an accent with intention. We did need some neutral elements to play on the richness that we were wanting with the shoot, therefore we decided that the shoot had to have LOTS of candlelight and some classic touches. Silky lamour linens, candles, rich red roses, clear glass, simple white china and classic place card design all played off the custom made distressed wood candle chandelier, the wall of votives created from old rail ties and chain, wrought iron table numbers, exposed brick walls and twisted curly willow that made its way into every one of our arrangements. We had so much fun with this shoot and are so pleased with how it turned out.
We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed collaborating to make it happen. There were so many photos, we had to make it into a gallery!
We could not have accomplished the look that we were hoping for without the contribution of so many talented vendors. We are so thankful for their collaboration! Here is the talented team:
