What brought you to Spokane and to Soiree?

In 2005, I came to Spokane to attend Gonzaga University to pursue a degree in Psychology and Business. I always thought I would be a counselor, but was managing for a catering and events company when I began my masters program and realized where my true love lied; in events. I had always desired to start my own business. Jessica and I used to meet weekly to bake, and during our weekly baking nights we’d dream up business plans. One day we decided to stop dreaming and to do something and we are utterly excited about Soiree Event Design!

What is your favorite thing about Spokane?

My favorite part about Spokane is all the wonderful people and things going on in this community.  The best part is that Spokane is still small enough to get involved in many of them.  It is really just a big small town, and I like that about it

What is your favorite aspect of events?

My favorite aspect of any event is what people bring to it. I love creating a unique feel and theme to an event, but no matter how much is done to produce that effect, it won’t be complete without the people. And, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun!

What is your favorite dessert and the best place to get it?

Goodness. I absolutely love them all, but if I had to choose it would definitely be chocolate. I’d have to go with the Mayan hot chocolate at Chocolate Apothecary. It is absolutely sinful.

What brought you to Spokane and Soiree?

My journey to Spokane started in 2004 when I decided to go to Gonzaga University. I fell in love with this town after my four years of college and ended up staying here. My journey to Soiree started as a fun, exciting and “crazy” idea during a baking session with Ali. The decision came after years of working in both catering and marketing throughout Spokane. I have always had a strong desire to own a business and this venture is a perfect combination of my strengths and experience. I love bringing together all of the fantastic people and services that Spokane offers.

What is your favorite thing about Spokane?

Spokane is such an easy city to fall in love with, it has a vibrant culture, unique people and so many options to get involved! I feel that the Inland Northwest has a very specific culture. There is a collaborative and friendly feeling here and I love being a part of it!

What is your favorite aspect of events?

I love all of the personal details. Most people see events and see the same thing recreated over and over. But I feel it is the personal details that make an event. What ever those personal touches may be, when guests can walk away and feel as though they are involved and we can see the client’s personalities reflected in each thing we do, we have succeeded.

What is your favorite dessert and where is the best place to get it in Spokane?

Those who know me, know that I love desserts, sweets and baking! I have a passion for all things butter and cream! In Spokane I love Mizuna for dessert. They have a great rotation of seasonal desserts, but I absolutely LOVE their vegan carrot cake, and I’m not even vegan!
